Following my visit to Phakisa in April 2001, I was sent the following letter from their 

Chief Marshal, Kobus Steenberg.

Dear Steve

It was a great privilege to have you as a flag marshal on post 15 during the SA MotoGP of 2001.

To commemorate your visit to us and in view of your exceptional love of the sport and bravery in overcoming your accident, we are proud to make you an honorary member of our Association.

Whenever you are in South Africa, please contact us and we will arrange for you to come to Phakisa for a visit to come and enjoy a drink in our pub and if there is a race on, you can come and join us again.
