27th June Attended European Touring Car meeting at Donington Park, and met Alex Zanardi. Spent 15 minutes with him, learnt how modest he is able his situation, and saw first hand the time and care he takes with each and every one of his fans, when asked for autographs, photos or requests for information. Truly an example to us all.
7th - 13th June Had a fantastic time attending the Le Mans 24 Hour race. Made very welcome by all the other marshals, the Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx drivers and team members (Johnny Herbert IS a nutter!!!!!), and by the ACO for allowing me to be there in the first place. Even managed to flag one time when we had a breakdown and all other marshals were on track attending to it!
29th/30th May Marshalled at Thruxton for the Formula Renault Festival and the International Truck racing meeting. Two great days. Also used this meeting to test my camping abilities in preparation for Le Mans. Survived the 2 nights under canvas but learnt some lessons at the same time!
1st/2nd/3rd May

Attended 3 day Thoroughbred Grand Prix and Historic racing meeting at Donington Park. 1st was also the 10th anniversary of the passing of Ayrton Senna, so attended memorial wreath laying ceremony by Tom Wheatcroft, Donington Park's owner. Met up with my good friends at Classic Team Lotus who were running a Lotus 18 in the Formula Junior race and the Lotus 91/10 for Dan Collins. Had a great time throughout the 3 days, and met many old friends as well. Made a new acquaintance in Zoltan Karpathy, a Hungarian working in England and as mad on motorsport as I am! Looks like we will be friends for a long time.

Only downside of the weekend was my falling out of my wheelchair TWICE, the first time I have ever done so. And no alcohol involved. Downside was my landing directly on my stump, splitting the skin and chafing a lot away. So am wheelchair bound for the next 3-4 weeks whilst I wait for the skin to grow back!!!!

27th April Receive acceptance by the Automobile Club de l'Ouest that I can again attend this year's Le Mans 24 Hour race, this time as a full marshal rather than as a spectator!!!! Yippee, this is going to be a hell of an adventure for me!!!!
14th April

Together with some of my BARC marshal friends, visited Audi Sport UK Team Veloqx. Looked around the two Audi R8 Le Mans cars currently being fettled in preparation for the pre-qualifying event on the 25th April. Had various elements explained to us by Commercial Director John Newman and Chief Mechanic Dave Ward. All in the party thoroughly enjoyed the time the team gave up for us.

I also got to visit the BAR F1 team factory, also located in Brackley. Shown around by Guido Piedade and got to see a lot of the various departments, apart from those where secret work was going on!!!! Thanks Guido for your time and effort.

12th April   Spectated at Castle Combe to watch some friends race, ended up getting involved by timing all the laps completed by the car of Guy Loveridge and Claire Furnell. To do this, I had to stand at the pitwall for nearly 70 minutes! Did get cramps during this time but managed to ease them off. Team impressed with my efforts.
10th/11th April Marshalled first event of the year at Thruxton. Good to be back trackside again. Met Murray Walker during the Sunday.
27th/28th February Worked on 2004 Rallye Sunseeker. Did Marshals Signing-on at Scrutiny, then spectated by Bournemouth Pier for the evening tarmac stages. Saturday spectated all day at Somerley stages, great fun driving on the snow and ice that we had underfoot.
26th February   Jackie and I settle amicably on our divorce settlement.
8th February   Have been suffering from a number of serious leg infection in my left leg. As well as the heat, swelling and pain within the leg, this has also made me feel unwell and resulted in my having to take leave from work whilst this cleared up.
25th January Attended Goodwood Marshals Club training day. As well as the usual drills, we also had a Renault F1 car, a Ferrari 360 and a BTCC Honda to practise driver extractions with. Thanks to the various teams involved for the loan of your vehicles.
10th January Attended Goodwood Marshals Club Post-Christmas dinner.
8th January Attended Autosport International at Birmingham NEC. Met many marshals from around the country.
