There are two separate courses used at Goodwood - the Festival using the roads of the Goodwood House estate, and the race circuit around what was originally the perimeter roads of the airfield at Westhampnett, a couple of miles away from the House. The Revival meeting started in 1998, and is very much based on past racing glories, with all the competing cars being those that took part in racing during the circuit's operating span of 1948 to 1966. Here you'll get the chance to see sideways powerdrifts, slides and the chance to look into the cockpits to see the drivers at work on the steering wheels. Here, you won't see any drivers aids at all, and you can smell the distinct aroma of Castrol "R" and leather seats. Give the driver a silk scarf and you can imagine the scene.
And the event also attracts many of the famous drivers of the period to climb aboard old mounts, re-new acquaintances with old rivals, and to So if you want to spoil yourself with event with a difference, why not consider this as an event to partake in. Spoil yourself, lose your inhibitions and dress up and feel part of a unique atmosphere that is the Goodwood revival. |
