Steve stars at Motability Show

STAR TURN: Steve Tarrant talks about his unique rally liveried Ford Focus with

paralympic gold medalist Tanni Grey-Thompson at the Roadshow at Donington.

The specially adapted works rally liveried Ford focus of Poole motor racing marshal Steve Tarrant was one of the star attractions at this year's Motability Roadshow at Donington Park.

Steve, who lost a leg in an accident at the Goodwood Festival of Speed two years ago, was given the opportunity to take to the track for a few speedy laps of honour around the grand prix circuit.

He was joined from Dorset by fellow disabled driver, paraplegic David Peck from Ferndown with his TVR Griffith 4.3. An IT consultant, David says that he has always loved motoring and has never let his disability (the result of a road accident in 1972) stop him enjoying cars. "I believe driving means more than mere transportation from A to B. It has to be pleasurable, to create a sense of achievement. But above all it must be exciting."
