Steve gets distinctive new motor

INDEPENDENCE: Steve Tarrant behind the wheel of his specially adapted and decorated Ford Focus

CAR-Blimey! If you're going to get a nifty motor you might as well make it the spitting image of the world rally champion's.

That's what Steve Tarrant has done as he gets back on the road for the first time since losing his right leg in a race track accident in 2000.

Steve, 41, of Sea View Road, Upton, won his battle to be given a car for the next three years after an appeal to the Department of Works and Pensions. The suppliers English Ford, at Tower Park, completed his request to have the specially adapted Ford Focus decked out in the decals of last year's world rally champion Colin McRae.

Steve said: "I wanted it to be a bit different. It gives me the independence to come and go as I need. English Ford have been very good in getting the car ready."
